OneDrive File-On-Demand feature and general failure - Microsoft Community

after recent update (fall creators update) , reintroduction of files-on-demand feature (which turned on default after upgrade, seriously, why ms it, ruining experience of users?), had disable (i encountered issues visual studio being unable open stored in onedrive files).

and after disabled feature, onedrive gone. stopped synching, says "your onedrive empty" though not (neither online storage nor local folder), not react changes in directories, half of onedrive local files marked "synching" symbol though no synching happening. not react turning on file-on-demand feature again (after close , open settings, feature still unchecked). unable fetch information account's occupied storage  ("sorry unable retrieve quota information right now"). else? rebooting/restarting process not help, cannot unlink account , set folder scratch. there 0 reaction onedrive actions.

so question : "is there service or back-end process controls onedrive behaviour (other onedrive.exe) can restart it? or there way hard reset onedrive?"

restart computer in between toggles.  it's how had unstuck.

additionally, don't change options right away; have wait while (with 0 indication) 'settle' before messing it.

"windows-as-a-service" means we beta-test-as-a-service.
