How do I unlock field codes so I can edit a citation in Word 15.32 for - Microsoft Community

i want adjust default include title of second (or third) citation same author intext citations when toggle field codes on particular field , try edit message

this document has edit capabilities have been locked

how can unlock these capabilities? or can restrict title of citations other way.  when right click not see 'edit fields'.

not sure need do, but...

but let's put on 1 side, because uninstall/reinstall should avoided if possible, , if removes message, i'm not sure citation problem.

i impression know put in citation field code (i.e. need introduce suppress items, or perhaps remove switches unsuppress items, when try it, prevented doing so? case?)

the thing when try edit citation field here, not "locked" message see.

background, happens when insert citation, word inserts thing called sdt (the thing blue box around it) contains citation field. if use alt-f9 (or fn-alt-f9 depending on keyboard setup) should able toggle between field results , field code, might this:

{ citation a1y11 \l 2057  \m a2y21 }

in case, a1y11 , a2y21 "tags" of 2 citations want.

if try edit code of field (for example introduce \y switch 1 of citations, word not let me so. there no error message here.

however, can select , copy field text, i.e.

citation a1y11 \l 2057  \m a2y21

i can paste document elsewhere, select it, , use cmd-f9 (or fn-cmd-f9) surround pair of special field code braces { }. surrounding sdt box no longer there, , can edit field text how want. happens on copy of word? further, in principle allow fix field , result need?

obviously, allowed needed, might have copy , edit lot of citation field codes. i'm not sure there way make simpler, using vba, in case better establish whether or not can achieve need fixing field code.
