i can't use the Send To menu to send to a mail recipient anymore - Microsoft Community

i use send menu on windows desktop send desktop icon mail recipient. can't that. happening? have office 2016 365 home , student.

you need full email program use menu option.  office "home & student" edition not come office version of outlook (it comes word/excel/powerpoint, not outlook).

so there few things being done address this.

  • in windows 7 , newer (including 8 , 10), "send > mail recipient" requires install full email program microsoft outlook.  the built-in "mail" app can't handle kind of action.  so 1 option have install outlook, if own or want buy it.  but if don't own or want buy it, keep reading free options.

  • in upcoming update, you'll able right-click file, choose "share" , select "mail".  this works how smartphones have worked years. , unlike old "send to" option, 1 work anything.  for example, share file text message, messenger, facebook, or twitter.

  • in meantime before update, can still send attachments doing instead:
    • open mail app (or favorite email website outlook.com or gmail.com)
    • start new email message send out
    • drag-and-drop file or files want send message. attached.
    • click send
