Automatically update a chart in a Word document, driven by mail merge - Microsoft Community


the goal add chart updated each time new customers record displayed. ms tech support level 1, 2 & 3 has been stumped application. can solve problem.

i have word document fields populated using excel file , mailmerge. there table in word document. mail merge data excel file displayed in cells in table.  the table contains few columns totals have been calculated using formulas in each cell of these particular columns. in example below chart created inserting ms chart graph object. goal chart change each time new mail merge record data displayed. ms chart graph object doesn't work.   several sources instruct re-creating table in sheet#2 in sources excel file along creating chart on sheet #2. no 1 has provided elegant working solution problem.

using tools, possible perform following types of merge cannot done mail merge “out-of-the-box”:

·       merge e-mail messages either or without attachments, documents created merge being sent either word or pdf attachments or body of e-mail message.

·       merge individual documents in either word or pdf format filenames being supplied data in 1 of fields in data source

·       many 1 type merges, can used creating documents such invoices there multiple records in data source have common data in 1 of fields

·       merging document include chart unique each record in data source

·       merging document content controls

·       merging document contains legacy formfields

·       duplex merges

·       merging printer collate , staple output created each record in data source.
