hi there,

thank respond. have same issue , tried recommended steps fix problem. neither did repair setup (online version) nor configuration analyzer job.

if open word without document or empty one, don't have issues. when open existing document (i.e. 8 pages in total), cpu usages increases 100%.

what else can do?

high cpu usage can indicative of several different problems. if program eating entire processor, there's chance it's not behaving properly. maxed-out cpu sign of virus or adware infection, should addressed immediately. mean computer can't keep want do, , upgrade may in order.

follow steps below isolate main issue:

  1. press ctrl +⇧ shift + esc open task manager. utility monitors , reports on of processes , programs running on computer.

  2. click the processes tab. display of processes running on computer.

  3. click cpu column. sort processes based on current cpu usage.

  4. find processes accounting majority of cpu usage. there 1 maxed out @ 99-100%, though may have couple of different programs taking 50% each.

  5. note "image name" of processes. allow them later determine how keep high usage happening.

  6. select offending program , click end process. asked confirm want force process quit.

  7. determine how proceed troubleshooting misbehaving program. see steps below:
  • uninstall - if program isn't necessary one, uninstalling may easiest way keep bogging down system.
  • reinstall or update - bug in program causing take of cpu. reinstalling program or applying update developer may fix problems experiencing.
  • run virus , malware scans - if research shows program malicious, may need remove using antivirus or anti-malware program. can complicated process , may not able remove virus without reinstalling windows.
