Content Type Not Updated docx, xlsx, pptx in SharePoint - Microsoft Community

hi all,

 sharepoint library items has document has (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) extension , item associated custom content type(blank word document, document). when user tries change custom content type ootb content type(document). it’s not updating there no error.

steps reproduce:

1.create custom content type parent "document".

2.associate content type document library , add "content types" documents view.

3.when library items has document has (.docx,.xlsx,.pptx) extension , item associated with  custom content type.

4.now try change custom content type ootb "document" content type , vice-versa.

5.it’s not updating there is  no error.

please on faced issue in (.docx,.xlsx,.pptx) extensions.

hi rajendhiran,

update.

described, created column library. when edit column property, value not updated in sharepoint online. if create choice column , use these content types choices, please try following check if persists:
    1. open library in browser or inprivate browser.
    2. upload new document , edit properties.

if not scenario, please provide information below:
    1. issue occur 1 specific document in library or documents?
    2. detailed steps , related screenshots how add content type column in library.
