font changes or font color changes crash the program - Microsoft Community

split thread version no longer in service.

i have problem in word , powerpoint mac.  super frustrating.  have lost time , work because of this.

i don't understand either of 2 answers below nor how forum works.

does actual employee of company paid software provide actual answer question, or 13 "i have same question" posts , 2 nonsensical answers other users below site?

i'm not kidding.  i'm fed microsoft's terrible 2016 mac release i'm done.  i'm not using or further microsoft office products.  google drive might not have useless bells , whistles has counts, , can work professional it.  when try use microsoft powerpoint or word font changes or font color changes crash program no backup saved.

while sure sounds problem fonts , not office, let's start basics. make sure both mac os , office date.

make sure mac has working internet connection before checking updates. install mac os x updates followed office updates.

 

install mac os x updates first:

to mac os updates, go app store on dock, , click updates button reveal available updates.

 

then install office updates

to update:

1. open office application
2. go menu , choose check updates
3. let autoupdate check , install updates
4. restart mac

 

still crashing?

restart mac , hold shift key down moment hear startup chime. once see swirling circle can let go of shift key. mac automatically fix problems startup disk , reduce available font set, , prevent other apps launching @ startup. takes longer boot safe mode, don't alarmed if seems it's taking forever

once desktop, open problem app(s). work ok (yes or no)? 

if works ok there font problem. 

before try radical things, use font book(it’s in applications > utilities folder) or other font utility validate fonts. delete old versions of duplicate fonts. delete fonts don't validate completely. restart mac , empty trash rid of unneeded fonts , free disc space.
