Highlight using mouse - Microsoft Community

my mouse not allow me highlight text (in word , other office products) , make changes.  can double click left button , go word word used able highligh entire sentence or whatever won't stay highlighted.  same in publisher when trying make text boxes , use other features. 

i using windows 7 wireless mouse.  problem mouses or windows?  has come since windows 10 introduced.  suggestions or great appreciated.

btw - noticed can highlight , move text here on-line.

if left click mouse @ beginning of text , move mouse cursor end of text , hold down shift key , left click, of text in between selected?
