Non contagious highlighting Word 365 Mac - Microsoft Community

i trying highlight multiple sections of word document , have done holding down cmd + clicking on desired word or highlighting sentence etc. however, no longer works reason, , takes long time try , alter multiple sections within word document.

does know how fix this?
