A style that does not modify font type? - Microsoft Community

i'd make style not change font selected, e.g. if it's times new roman should *stay* times new roman without me having modify style each different font type.
specifically i'm wanting create "highlight" style can used in find/replace (as regular highlight isn't available there) apply background color text , nothing else.
is possible?
i have tried "character" style uses "underlying properties", , font dropdown in modify dialog empty, applies default body font (in case calibri); doesn't work.
it doesn't appear possible apply style won't replace direct font formatting. however, can apply highlighting in replace dialog. when click more in dialog , click format, highlight choice @ bottom of popup menu. add highlight list of formatting under replace box.
