i have similar problem above, in situation offending email 1 have sent. ironically forwarded message had received, there must different size limits set incoming vs outgoing emails.
i have switched work offline, , sent email outbox visible. when open outbox, email visible 1 have sent. oversized email not visible.
i running outlook 15.35 (170610) on macos sierra v 10.12.1

are sent items , deleted items visible? if yes, search subject find , remove it. if persists, log email web page try again. example, if using office 365 account, log owa (https://outlook.office.com) or log gmail web page if use it.
additionally, i'd confirm root concern. large messages cause cannot send/receive emails? try mac safe mode to see if issue exists.
