Two columns page set up is messing up Page numbers - Microsoft Community

hello,

i wanted use 2 columns approach business document writing. thought fancier way.

but messing page numbers. thought sections. when delete sections loses 2 columns. can help?

simplest solution go 1 column per page.

also document has headings. shall 2 column approach applied headings well? or text?

well, sections, can't avoid section breaks if using mixture of multiple , single columns (if entire document in 2 columns, no section breaks needed).

the issue every section has header , footer (more 1 each, if you've enabled different first page or different odd , even), , page numbering can restarted in section, see page numbers in headers/footers visible in document. if section "landlocked" (in middle of page), won't able access header or footer deal page numbers; fortunately, however, can access them directly.

start adding section number status bar if not displayed (right-click on status bar , choose section). permit see section number @ insertion point. if add formatted page number, see number printed on page if there header/footer section.

you can scroll section 1 section 2 , proceed forward until find section page numbering messed up. use insert | header & footer | page number | format page numbers... open page number format dialog, can reset number "start at" "continue previous section."
