"User is authenticated but not connected" using Thunderbird - Microsoft Community

for 2 days i've been getting strange authentication errors when try connect hotmail account using thunderbird. can connect , authenticate using outlook website account using same account , password.

my account details haven't changed , haven't changed configuration options in thunderbird has been working flawlessly several years previously. can't view of mail folders through thunderbird. whenever thunderbird tries connect get:

the current operation on 'inbox' did not succeed. mail server account [account name] responded: user authenticated not connected.

followed by:

server [account name] has disconnected. server may have gone down or there may network problem.

according office 365 service status site there problem sending , receiving mail in europe, not in europe , can;t connect mail inn order send mail.

i reset cached password in thunderbird , received message (in backup email) saying unusual account activity , asking verify account. (so server is certainly receiving authentication request.

i have tried removing account in thunderbird , when add back, fails same messages each time.

how can regain access hotmail account thunderbird?

edit: update sep 28

yesterday (sep 27) noticed thunderbird displays imap folders. first time since re-created hotmail account in thunderbird i've seen inbox folder, progress.

today (sep 28 2017) have full access account again thunderbird.

since haven't changed on side, microsoft working on related issues. else regains access once again.

test account , customers appear working well.  something got fixed...

working mac users @ business. have few issues outlook 2016 not seem have clear cut solutions can find searching community. new emails - messages sporadically go straight outbox after being sent, not send until user exits re-opens outlook, work after multiple restarts. error code see corresponding 17884 sync status - thousands of items have yet synced. sync status show proper statistics items syncing, statistics change 'server busy' , have no idea if still syncing in background or hung up. using 'sync folder' or 'send & receive' stack more items sync status window no progress made. connection window in bottom right corner - upon start up, display 'not connected'. can leave outlook open prolonged period of time , never change, if change status of outlook online offline multiple times in tools window. so far have rebuilt profile scratch within outlook tried opening outlook on multiple wifi networks tried ope
