Outlook 2016 items disappearing from unread items search folder - Microsoft Community

coworker having weird problem in outlook 2016. has both pc , mac. mac seems fine. pc has following issue:

has search folders , 1 of search folders in unread mail. when clicks on message in unread mail, opens fine. when closes it, item disappears unread search folder (this fine) can't found anywhere else, including inbox. checked rules , there none. , there don't appear filters. did complete search on outlook items , emails sent literally disappeared.

ideas?

if open unread-email, turn read email.

can find in whole mailbox in outlook?

which account using, office 365, outlook.com or others , how configured in outlook, via exchange or pop/imap?

if using office 365 account, you can try using the sara tool diagnose , fix issue.

to identify if issue related add-ins, please start outlook in safe mode see if issue persists. (click start > run> type outlook.exe /safe> click ok.)

if works, try disabling add-ins see if works:

click file> options> add-ins> select “com add-ins” in manage drop-down> click go> uncheck add-ins not using> click ok.
