"search tools "grey out" when click in search box in outlook 2016 click-to-run 

1. message "instant search not available" because running outlook "administrator privileges", though app not being run administrator.

2. not happen newly created windows account.

3. have had issues other search functions, , result have rebuilt index several times in last week.

have worked both windows support , office support no luck. option switching new windows account, associated hassle?

i did not try suggested solution. experience, unless exhibits first hand knowledge problem, suggestions prefaced "you can try" more not waste of time. unfortunately, reinforce opinion "user forums" microsoft community poor substitute actual product support. , make matters worse, in light of absence of apparent attempt microsoft organize , focus considerable knowledge site contains, site's benefit progressively worse ... not better.

the news? problem solved. shield on file explorer icon indicates program "set" run in administrator mode, not single microsoft technical support representative explain controlled appearance of shield. still don't know controls it, happen run offcat tool , indicated office set run in administrator, , included convenient "fix me" option. selected option , ... problem fixed. never learned how registry became set run in administrator mode, , without actual product support never will.
