File rolled back to previous version, lost data/ work - Microsoft Community

hi,

i working on decent size file in ms word (3.75 mb, 31 odd pages) i'd called 'starguide.docx', , on 7 hours (11pm - 6am), worked on , took ti 38 odd pages. during entire time, saved multiple times - every 15 minutes if i'm honest. however, when closed file @ 6am, , went reopen using shortcut, , file couldn't found.

i went folder file on onedrive, , file seems have been renamed 'starguide-matthew-pc.docx'. in addition, file had been rolled last progress @ 1:10 am, , i'd lost other progress.

i'm sure i'd have noticed if file had been renamed in bar @ top, i'd know why it's done it's done. in addition, 2 other word documents working on concurrently (though added less 500 words them) weren't affected rollback of sorts. went recover previous versions, there nothing there, , onedrive cache in roaming likewise empty. recycling bin empty, doesn't seem file deleted, rolled though saving worked.

thoughts , suggestions work back? i'd rather not mess registry if can avoid though.

lost data may happen due synchronization issues in onedrive. better isolate concern regarding missing data, provide more information answering these questions:

  • how , when did issue start?
  • can still view updated version of word file in onedrive opening using web browser?
  • did occur while syncing file other office applications?
  • have made significant changes document prior happening?
  • what steps have taken far?

working mac users @ business. have few issues outlook 2016 not seem have clear cut solutions can find searching community. new emails - messages sporadically go straight outbox after being sent, not send until user exits re-opens outlook, work after multiple restarts. error code see corresponding 17884 sync status - thousands of items have yet synced. sync status show proper statistics items syncing, statistics change 'server busy' , have no idea if still syncing in background or hung up. using 'sync folder' or 'send & receive' stack more items sync status window no progress made. connection window in bottom right corner - upon start up, display 'not connected'. can leave outlook open prolonged period of time , never change, if change status of outlook online offline multiple times in tools window. so far have rebuilt profile scratch within outlook tried opening outlook on multiple wifi networks tried ope
